Micro-pigmentation
Micropigmentation sometimes referred to as “semi permanent make-up” is a technique in which minute, metabolically inert pigment granules are implanted below the epidermis for cosmetic and/or corrective enhancement. Micropigmentation is used to enhance facial features like eyebrows, lashes and lips; to improve conditions like scarring and vitiligo (uneven pigmentation); or to reconstruct the nipple/areola breast area.

Permanency of Micropigmentation
The length of time the pigment remains in the skin depends on the health of the skin and the skins ability to absorb the pigment. Permanency also depends on the pigment colour implanted. The yellow based pigments will fade from the skin before red or blue based. The natural fade out time of the pigments will vary greatly from one person to another. The range of time variation is from eighteen months to four or five years. The average time for most clients is three years as aging is a continual process which means natural lightening of the skin and hair, the fading of the pigments gives the opportunity to change pigment colour with each re-touch. Dark coloured eyebrows may look great on a twenty or thirty year old, but not at all flattering by the age of fifty or sixty.
Discomfort Factor
Topical anesthetics developed especially for the use of Micropigmentation are used before and during the whole procedure time. Discomfort is kept to a minimum. It must be remembered that there is a variance of pain tolerance between people. Some discomfort has to be expected. Other factors that may affect our discomfort levels are tiredness and menstruation.
Recovery Time
The healing of the skin for all cosmetic make-up procedures except the full lip creation will take an average of seven days. Flaking of the skin will be experienced by most people. Some clients may have crust formation on the brows. The full lip creation may take up to fourteen days to heal. During the healing process of all the procedures there will be a thirty to forty percent colour loss as the pigment heals from the epidermal layer of the skin.
Number of Treatments Needed
The original treatment will need to be followed by a second treatment 6-8 weeks later. Further touch-up treatments will be necessary to keep the colour intensity as needed.
